deletion of article Patrick Quigley

Hi, just getting back to you on the deletion of this page. PQ is cited on Mark Jackson's page as the NBA star's high-school coach. I thought that was sufficient cause to include him, especially since there are numerous articles on high-school sports. Roman theatres

Hi, most Roman theatres around East Mediterrian are actually continiuation of the older Hellenistic theatres, ie, in most cases they were built by pre-Roman people. Does the list include those ? Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 15:40, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
:I'm working on the assumption that most were in use and also renovated under Roman rule (if not actually built then). If one is obviously Greek (and I suspect there are _very_ few of those, then I suppose I would leave it off. Even the theaters in Athens were renovated though. Does that make sense to you? Roman Calendar and the Fasti

Hello. I'm impressed with the improvements you've made to the Roman Calendar ↗ page. I do, however, have a slight quibble. You state that there are no extant Fasti until after Augustus, yet you included the image of the Fasti Praenestini ↗, the caption of which states that it dates from 60BC. Really there are two quibbles - if the Fasti are only known since Augustus, then mentioning them at all is inappropriate for the article about the pre-Julian calendar. Conversely, if at least one Fasti is pre-Julian, then the references to them dating to after Augustus should be rewritten.

I was just re-organizing things and trying not to delete more material than necessary from the ''Fasti'' article, so I didn't even think about that (OK, really I'd barely read it). I'd rather approach this by deleting the bit at the start about this article doing just the pre-Julian calendar. Leave the Julian calendar section short with a link to that topic's article, but don't say that we're not covering it. What do you think, Silas ↗?

Kings of Rome

I've removed it from the intro to shorten it. But I've put it in the list of kings, partly to emphasise their legendary status, which the reader may have forgotten about by the time they've read all the stuff in between. As for the destruction of records, I wouldn't expect that burning papyrus or parchment would leave much archaeological evidence, and I don't think it's disputed that the Gauls did attack Rome. And if the records hadn't been destroyed, we would know more about how many kings there were, and what they did. They probably weren't descended from gods and so on, but there would also be more plausible facts known too. (And there were plenty of ancient kings who did rule for 30 or 40 years, so it's not completely impossible that the more recent ones could have been real people.) I think the reader is entitled to some explanation of why so little historical information is known. Richard75 (talk) 19:42, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
:: Sure, some burnt paper wouldn't leave much of a trace, but these were unlikely to have been written on anything paper-y. There's actually no archaeological trace at all of the alleged Gallic sack, which leads most scholars to conclude that the Roman account of it was exaggerated. Probably the mercenary Gallic army arrived, threatened the city and left after being paid off. Maybe with some gratuitous but minor damage. : Johnbod, just being bold there. This is indeed the common name of the site, and "Heraion" is the more important part. A quick search reveals the Wikidata page ↗ and the Italian version ↗ both have this name. The French ↗ and Finnish ↗ versions use "Heraion" ''without'' the place name, though the latter includes it parenthetically. The 1951 article in the references also calls it by this name (in Italian). The museum at Paestum itself calls it this in English ↗.
