Copyright problem: Hawk Racing

30px|link=|alt=Control copyright icon ↗ Hello M1GHTY M4VS! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Hawk Racing ↗, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted material from other websites or printed works. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are likely to lose their editing privileges ↗.

Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing!<!-- Template:Nothanks-web --> — Diannaa&nbsp;<span style="color:red">🍁</span>&nbsp;(talk) 12:18, 17 June 2025 (UTC)

:Hello Diannaa! I acknowledged the issue as it is sourced from the team's website as mentioned. I started to rephrase it, to not be a direct copy as I intended to merge it with references from other source online such as motorcyclenews, that appear as refs also on other wiki pages - right now the recently added section is solely based on the team's own information. My intentention was to rewrite and trim down the repetitions i.e. each year is written like it's own independent section repeating with emphasis the Series and Sponsorships - I wanted to have a base to condense the information given and then reference the same news aspect from at least another online news outlet as source if possible. Some of the early period I started with I'm in doubt I can alternatively source through other written sources for every paragraph.
:My intended to use the Wayback Machine as some of the Series early history 1988-2007 is incomplete even through recovery measures and the sparse early remnants are other than recollections such as the team's own mostly not available. While I could do my earnest to add the public references but it's mostly only reliably possible from 2015 onwards, and partially with gaps from 2007. I could try to lessen the singular source aspect as a direct copyright claim if I retroactively add the sources from other public domains such as the news articles if that would be satisfying to resolve the issue.
:But it would be enough for the full statistics result table. So I could transform it into that I assume. I'd think it's possible to paraphrase the current base, as the structure does not look dissimilar to e.g. JMB Racing ↗ just that I'm now tasked to dissect the wording against an official source instead of forming brackets into a coherent and fluent varied text. But there are also instances like Jota Sport ↗ which is similar in wording and Jetalliance Racing ↗ also has a started written wiki from a self reported source from the team without quotes but also noting results just from more article substance that got cut for the wiki.
:I think about to move the paragraph to the temporary page mentioned for now.
:I'm not sure how to be able to receive feedback on the public drafts in advance before I publish and get a response for mistakes and issues beforehand. M1GHTY M4VS (talk) 17:09, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
::My main concern is that the material you added was copied from https://www.hawk-racing.co.uk/team, which is marked as "© 2025 Hawk Racing" which means the material is copyright. You can't add it to Wikipedia, not even temporarily for editing. You can use Earwig's tool ↗ to see what the overlap is. — Diannaa&nbsp;<span style="color:red">🍁</span>&nbsp;(talk) 20:29, 17 June 2025 (UTC)
:::I've done a revision at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Hawk_Racing/Temp as in your original message and added the citations. I'm still looking into finding an example on how to contact the Team for the copyright. I've seen one at the Talk of United Autosports ↗ but that links to another area and the article has some issue aswell M1GHTY M4VS (talk) 10:08, 21 June 2025 (UTC)
::::See WP:Requesting copyright permission ↗ for an explanation of how to do it. There's a sample permission email at WP:Consent ↗. If you check the new version using Earwig's tool ↗ you will see that there's quite a bit of overlap and close paraphrasing ↗. — Diannaa&nbsp;<span style="color:red">🍁</span>&nbsp;(talk) 10:21, 21 June 2025 (UTC)

:Hello QEnigma, it is a straight translation from the German Wikipedia which also list no references (with notice), the only source from that is the Series Website that is linked. It has no English Correspondence - but it is stated that for Wiki, is not required for an English article. I've added the citations to the topic and stat references (incomplete secondary source). I've resubmitted with additional references and content but received another denied within one minute - stating it cannot establish it's own notability. The Original Wikipedia article is up since 2008 without such dismissive judgement. Additionally it was a requested article on the WP:MOTORSPORT to-do-list to be more complete to the 'category:touring car racing series' together with other foreign language series that exists with English Wikipedia articles. So it is aimed towards the collective effort of that WikiProject.
:Publications are almost exclusively linked to the series as news articles are closely tied to the editorial office that does the photography and publication stories - the now out of stock book of the early history from 1986 to 1995 was also published by them but it has no ISBN reference - so in a sense the lack of secondary cites is due to how the news structure is relayed.
:I feel it is harshly judged compared to existing articles on adjacent none top importance level motorsport series articles now - especially since when the reason for the denied submission gets addressed on the re-submission to be then given contradicting estimation to prior statement.
:The Original Wiki article took out the biased and implying statements from the primary source. I've added the Venues (since 2008) and Statistics from the primary and affiliated secondary source. There's another tertiary source in GT-Eins.com that has no direct ties to the primary or secondary source as it seems but that only goes to 2001 and is incomplete and requires the full event recap on every event for every season and has no SSL Cert- so I refrained from listing active possible vulnerable sites - since I have not yet figured out how to set retrieval and access dates on WBM links properly and the Wikipedia article does not clarify it enough for me. Please use the existing Template:Tire

Instead of creating new, undocumented, unused tire manufacturer templates, please modify {{tl|Tire}} to add new tire brands. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:03, 19 July 2025 (UTC)

The Category:Tire manufacturer templates seems to be the first instance from the Original Template Creators. Template:Tire ↗ was a later creation by someone else. My recent creations haven't been thouroughly reviewed so I made them in accordance to the existing loose ones, instead of meddling with a list. The intial setup was for Formula 1 ↗ but by then single letter was enough to differentiate, then came colour coding. I noticed when the World Rally Championship ↗ used D-MACK it wasn't enough anymore and that was it's own instance. Now I've tried to expand the brands with more Offroad and Drift Brands, while I could find some with confirmed hex colour coding, others are my first guess and also the abbreviation isn't a concensus yet as I tried to limit the characters to be inline with the brand but also have a shortening factor by dropping vocals and as sometimes is common to abbreviate to consonants but it's not generally established yet. NEX as from Nexen Tire ↗ is a mirror image and found in their logo. The difference from Kumho ↗ to Kenda Rubber Industrial Company ↗ would be very difficult to spot in a single K with close to equal colours, Red & Dark Orang so I introduced the lengthier option for the latter. For some it could be an option to be a single letter in a particular series so there could be a need for a K and a KHO as two instances depending on use case. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page ↗.
When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade <small>(she/her)</small> (talk) 14:49, 7 August 2025 (UTC)

25px|alt=Information icon ↗ Please do not add or change content, as you did at :List of monster trucks ↗, without citing a reliable source ↗. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources ↗ to see how to add references to an article. ''Please don't add non-notable things to such lists.''<!-- Template:uw-unsourced2 --> Drmies (talk) 18:24, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

:I resemble this remark. Your additions are frankly vandalism. - '''Walter''' '''Ego''' 18:37, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
:I'm at it but my sourced edit towards the existing articles like Monster Jam ↗ also get removed again and again for opinions, like other editors not liking the order (while I added the option to sort) or red links to articles for creation (for Trucks inducted into International Monster Truck Hall of Fame ↗. I've also started to get a timeframe of the Seasons and Promotions which were and are held side by side but with that amount of disregard from editors with it I can't get anywhere because it remains partly incomplete for the parts that remain and it's seriously discouraging because it remains incomplete as is stated in the discussion. And the list List of Monster Trucks ↗ has no criteria in the opening paragraph and was clearly open for additions. If you want a short list of only ...with articles in Wikipedia than it would have been concise to at that statement at the top of the list. But with the disregard on how to cooperate on additions or creations of articles we get no where especially without having a ruleset about the missing promotions which ran alongside like TNT Motorsports and USA Motorsports or elsewhere like Monster Trucks Promotion Australia which had crossing paths with the lineup, when even the sole promotion's event wiki article get reverted with sourced referenced history. M1GHTY M4VS (talk) 19:04, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
::First, in regards to the table at Monster Jam#World Finals ↗, I think some cleanup ''before'' adding it to the article would be beneficial rather than straight-away adding it to the article. Could be done in a sandbox, such as User:M1GHTY M4VS/sandbox. However, I do believe the flags are unnecessary (especially when all but one are just US flags) and may also violate MOS:FLAG ↗. And yes, the amount of redlinks/MOS:OVERLINKING ↗ in your latest version ↗ does need cleanup- every instance of every single thing does not need to be linked. For example, 'FELD Motorsports' would only be linked '''''one time''''', 'Grave Digger ↗' would only be linked '''''one time''''', 'Tom Meents ↗' would only be linked '''''one time''''', etc.
::In regards to the List of monster trucks ↗ article, honestly not quite sure what to make of that. The article was previously proposed for deletion in 2018 (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of monster trucks ↗), and the result was to keep it. This ↗ previous version of the article is definitely '''''not''''' the way to go, as most of the sources are via Monster Trucks Wiki/FANDOM, which is very much not a reliable source ↗ (as it is made up of user-generated content ↗). As far as the ''current'' version goes, there is absolutely no sourcing, and although it may be an incomplete/unsourced list, the first step would be to add sources/remove trucks that are inadequately sourced, opposed to just adding more unsourced trucks and worsening the sourcing issue(s) even more so.
::I hope this helps. Magitroopa (talk) 19:32, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
:::Thanks for your response.
:::I'm fair with reducing the overlink, although it helps with site scrolling if it's possible to jump to an existing article regardless of occurrence. The first revert stated he hated the ordering so I tried about a few hours until I had both the sort and top category working at the same time so the link can be in a different order depending on preference. And the Series also has it in that order and changed the numeral format from roman to arabic so I held it to that order and I've added reference to the History Website and the Guidebook so there's at least two sources.
:::The List of Monster Trucks ↗ would just need a few concise clarification on the opening to be less open or more defined, I intentionally left out the redlinking because I also recognized it would cause too much disunity when it is unclear what events or amount of were noteworthy enough and not attached. I've also seen a list that is open and serves as a point of reference to create new articles but it has a few keypoints like location, type or series.
:::But having no other Promotions other than USHRA's Monster Jam ↗ and then only a dozen entries, which given the open scope of the List wouldn't be correct either. I would've been fine with it as a completion list or an entry page with only available wiki articles (but it isn't clarified properly and looking at the edit history is full of debate but no convention or consensus). I've collected a few of the promotions needing of an article but as you said it's difficult to source them and having the lineups per season is doable but MT Fandom and televised broadcasts as sources don't translate well into Wikipedia's written reference and the WBM on the one Series only go so far back into the early 2000s.
:::Unfortunately without a consensus and some written outline it remains too hazy. I'd see the current Monster Jam Lineup of Trucks like a Franchise in a Northern-American Sports League like the NBA. With the Flags I've held them in accordance to their state of a World Final, so technically it's open to anyone but realistically it's an USA Cup but the Northern Nightmare from Canada showed it's varied and it would be possible for entrants from Europe or Australia who run off-shoot programs in their own Organisation or Promotion but not a tiered league. So in that regard the List is open to those entries aswell (as were pointed out in the discussion of the list).
:::Furthermore adding those Promotions to monster truck ↗, would again create a few red links acknowledging their existence (and needing an article which would valid a few entries on the list). But it creates again a Chicken or Egg Problem of sourced and unsourced material for part of the entries and without a community which is towards completion it's unfeasible to add anything given there's no defined criteria on the topic. :I've added the old 2000 BSB Website to the references, it has a broken script problem but the Championship Button it's as accurate as it was, Race Results are there with a short review. Sadly it had no Scoring Table and Calculations and Motorsportstats also has an issue with counting the points for some reason. I added my concerns on the sources on the Talk Page todo list. Furthest I can bring it with the little online ressources there were before 2002. The Chronosports Books should have the Championship Tables at the End at around Page 161. For 1995-1999 I could source another one from Suberbike-Archives but 2000 and 2001 are the ones with the worst sourcing since it changed to new Organizers and Expanded Coverage especially online only in 2003. M1GHTY M4VS (talk) 16:45, 2 June 2026 (UTC)

References

I reverted a bunch of additions of references you made - since these books were not used in the writing of the article, it makes no sense to add them as a reference. If you find information in the books you own which can be used for new text or to cite existing statements (a nice library, by the looks of it), please add inline citations with page numbers. Best regards, <span style="background:#ff0000;font-family:Times New Roman;"><span style="color:#FDEE00;">'''&nbsp;Mr.choppers&nbsp;&#124;&nbsp;'''</span><span style="color:#FDEE00;">✎&nbsp;</span></span> 13:24, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

:I have had my submission for the later Formula TT seasons denied because it was disputed the online resources I added weren't enough. If I measure the seasons references from pre-internet seasons on the WRC I recognize no insufficiency compared to what is present on the existing WRC seasons pre-TV coverage which link eWRC database and a user database. I did the same for my seasons and weren't allowed to just make use of the little online resources there are, hence the books are the de facto best written reference outside of stats tables which I also have been told is not enough on the Draft:2000 British Superbike Championship ↗. So I judge them as additional required publications, because on a technical standpoint there's little to no difference other than reach of audience and general consensus which aren't measurable as a more qualified reference. Having additional qualified publication references wouldn't be an issue in my interpretation, if it means it makes it more than WP:NOTDATABASE ↗. Technically the season summary on the older WRC seasons need citations still, I'm not disputing or flagging them as such because I view them as accurate but evidently they are unsourced beyond the obvious Champion in the tables. Additionally they're contemporary of its respective year and at the very least are a medium that holds the table data as an additional qualified source to the online only option that if goes down may become lost media unlike the books and I don't see them over-referenced if they're present for the foreseeable future. Could be moved to a further reading section anyway. Thanks M1GHTY M4VS (talk) 14:22, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
::Then add it as an inline citation (with page #s), rather than as a vague, catch-all reference at the end - especially since these articles were obviously written long before you added this as a reference. I have nothing against printed works as a reference, but they have to be specific. Best, <span style="background:#ff0000;font-family:Times New Roman;"><span style="color:#FDEE00;">'''&nbsp;Mr.choppers&nbsp;&#124;&nbsp;'''</span><span style="color:#FDEE00;">✎&nbsp;</span></span> 19:53, 3 June 2026 (UTC)
:::https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1976_Grand_Prix_motorcycle_racing_season&oldid=372111650 has been done this way in 2010 with the Chronosports Book and it has been fine ever since (unlike the motogp weblink (primary source) which has been moved and is now invalid for that snapshot), subsequent seasons rely on that as a valid reference aswell, if it's a creation date or creator control than that page has been unsourced from it's creation in 2006 to 2010 when it was added so that can also be seen as a long time, ultimately the page has benefited from a more accurate and extensive article without page quotations still. I've not added or made specific claims that required specific inlite notes like in the current version of that article https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1976_Grand_Prix_motorcycle_racing_season&oldid=1357631792 . I've outlined more benefits than your interpretation of unnecessarily vagueness and uselessness, especially since those are valid sources for holding the stats permanently regardless if it is used as an inliner or not, unlike it had at a point because MotoGP website has moved and been deemed primary and not independent source, that move also puts it in danger of less than multiple sources of independent media required. So I'm still not on your viewpoint of unnecessary if it brings the references count from two to three sources and they're the most valid and potentially the only publisher verified content available since it has no newspaper of the time references added. The seasonal books I've added are 'the' curated resource with each guaranteed holding the records at the very least, it's not some excerpt on some page when the complete book is on that subject. It's not a Set of Pythagoras within the Book of Math problem to me if the primary subject completely encompasses the topic. I'd be with your wish specification if it would be a magazine that has 20 different topics and the excerpt is there to dissect the information from unrelated and totally different subjects or topics but it's really not here. And I'm not exceeding the verifiable resources count here it it has less than a handful different sources at all, So having three or four resources instead of two is a non issue really - Not sure why it has to be made into one.
