For example, you can use {{tl|US-novelist-1960s-stub}} for an American novelist born in the 1960s. Of course, if you can't find a proper category, you can always use the {{tl|stub}} tag and someone else will sort it for you, or you can propose a new stub template or category here ↗. Thanks!

Renaming categories

Hi, you seem to have created :Category:Caribbean national under-20 association football teams ↗ and moved the contents of :Category:Caribbean national under-20 football teams ↗ into it. This appears to be OK, but in future please follow the process at WP:CFD ↗. ThIs allows other editors to review the proposal, and the process automatically alerts the relevant Wikiprojects aboutthe proposed change. It also saves you work, as a bot will process the changes to the member articles. – Fayenatic '''<span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span> ↗'''ondon 23:46, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
:{{ping|Fayenatic london}} WP:CFD looks really hard for me. And I still have one category to move:<br>
:Category:Caribbean national under-23 football teams — please add "association" like the following:<br>
:Category:Caribbean national under-20 association football teams<br>
:Category:Caribbean national under-17 association football teams<br>
:Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 17:19, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
::Try it sometime; it comes with practice! The instructions on the CFD page should work, so let me know if you have any problems. I don't use them any more, as I do it from memory these days. This is what I typed on the category page: <nowiki>{{subst:cfr-speedy|Caribbean national under-23 association football teams}}</nowiki>. The resulting template gives you the text to paste onto the Speedy renaming page; all you have to add is the specific justification. (I did it already, see WP:CFDS ↗.)
::Giving a justification for the speedy process is a bit technical. It's probably easier to make a full nomination, using <nowiki>{{subst:cfr|Caribbean national under-23 association football teams}}</nowiki> on the category page. The resulting template will have a link to the daily CFD log and text for you to paste there. If the case fits the speedy criteria, you can get a quick result just the same.
::By the way, to make a link to a category, just add a colon inside the square brackets. Here's one: :Category:Caribbean national under-23 football teams ↗. – Fayenatic '''<span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span> ↗'''ondon 20:52, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
:::{{ping|Fayenatic london}} Wow !!! The colon inside the square brackets is like a miracle !!! Definitely, sometime I'll try to move a category by myself. Thanks, Maiō T. (talk) 21:17, 10 April 2014 (UTC)
::::Well done for listing U-19 categories at WP:CFDS ↗! I inserted the code for the reason, C2D. Once you have nominated one with a reason and a signature, you can list others underneath (rather than above) with just the old and new names.
::::Would you like to also tag and list the similar 2011 to 2013 categories within :Category:UEFA Women's Under-19 Championship ↗? – Fayenatic '''<span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span> ↗'''ondon 07:27, 12 April 2014 (UTC)
:Ah, tough luck, I had assumed that the articles were named consistently. The speedy page has strict criteria, otherwise renaming might happen too quickly for interested editors to see the notice.
:No harm done, anyway. Let me know if you need help to start a full CfD discussion instead. – Fayenatic '''<span style="color:#FF0000;">L</span> ↗'''ondon 14:16, 12 April 2014 (UTC)

not sure what you are doing with the moves, neither the old title nor your new title match the IIHF word order. Why is it better now?18abruce (talk) 19:03, 22 February 2015 (UTC)

Team disambiguations

Hello. I see that you are retargetting redirects from teams to disambiguation pages. Firstly, please be careful not to leave malplaced disambiguation pages ↗: if there is no primary topic ↗ then the disambiguation page should be at the base name ↗, not a redirect to it. Secondly, completing each change involves fixing ↗ the pages which link to the title. For example, the articles, templates, etc. listed at Special:WhatLinksHere/Canada national basketball team ↗ need to be edited to link instead to the correct specific article such as Canada men's national basketball team ↗. To keep the task manageable, it may be best to finish the job for the pages which have already moved before continuing to move other pages. Certes (talk) 18:22, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

Plural form

Why did you mass change "were" to "was" in the ice hockey IIHF tournaments that consisted of two tournaments? For example "The 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship Division I was two international under-18 ice hockey ↗ tournaments organised by the IIHF", OBVIOUSLY you cannot use "was" with plural form "tournaments" so you broke grammar in many articles, it should be "were". <span style="color:#58D3F7;"><b><i>Snowflake91</i></b></span> (talk) 11:02, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

:Sorry Snowflake, but "Division was" is correct in English. What follows after "was" is irrelevant. Google it! Maiō T. (talk) 15:58, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

::Of course "division was" would be correct, but "was tournaments" is not correct – the whole sentence needs to be taken into consideration, not just the first word after "division". <span style="color:#58D3F7;"><b><i>Snowflake91</i></b></span> (talk) 16:21, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

::: {{ping|Snowflake91}} I think "division was two tournaments" is correct. Also correct should be "two tournaments were division". Simply, the left side takes precedence over the right. Anyway, I'm gonna post this problem on VPT. Maiō T. (talk) 17:35, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

File:2023 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:2023 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship logo.png. But I believe that my version did not have any problem, only more enlarge the photo is okay, so using CSD F1 to remove your photo. I'm sorry and if you have any problem, welcome discuss with me. Thanks Stevencocoboy (talk) 03:55, 2 October 2024 (UTC)

:{{ping|Stevencocoboy}} Sorry Steven, but your image has really blurred text. In my image, the letters have sharp edges. Open both files in the browser in two tabs next to each other and then click from one tab to another and back and again and again and you should see the difference. JPG is quite a bad format, especially if the image is not original. (See the file history: a bot has reduced your original image.) So I think if there was a voting on which image is better, mine would win. Maiō T. (talk) 10:35, 2 October 2024 (UTC)
::Thanks for your opinion. But the pattern and the word in picture are very clear. I believe that we should clearly viewing that. I'm sorry and hopefully you can considerate. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 02:11, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

:::{{ping|Stevencocoboy}} We could agree on a compromise solution: I'll tag my PNG image with <code><nowiki>{{db-g7}}</nowiki></code> and also upload a new version of your JPG image with cleaner letter edges. Could it be? And promise me that you will never upload a logo in JPG format again. Maiō T. (talk) 10:30, 3 October 2024 (UTC)
::::Can you send the new version picture for me? I want to see it. Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 02:26, 4 October 2024 (UTC)

::::: Okay Steven, I've uploaded my compromise JPG version here: https://easyupload.io/zchhgg ↗ Now you can download it and compare it with yours. Use 500% zoom for a detailed comparison! Maiō T. (talk) 13:38, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
::::::Thanks for your help. I've already check your version picture. It's very clear in pattern and letter. Can you help me upload a new version in my JPG image? Thanks. Stevencocoboy (talk) 01:33, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

:::::::{{Done}}. Okay Steven, new version is uploaded. It's very easy: just open a file page and then click on the "Upload a new version of this file" wikilink. Maiō T. (talk) 10:25, 5 October 2024 (UTC)

Czechia and Türkyie

You posted a comment at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Czechia and Türkyie ↗. I don't think it belongs there, since it's not a technical issue, but I wrote a response anyway. Here goes...<br/>
What do you mean by "official names"? According to the governments of these countries, "Czechia" and "Türkiye" have been the official English names for several years now. See Name of the Czech Republic ↗ and Name of Turkey ↗. Not all reliable sources agree though, which makes things a bit difficult for us. In the example you mentioned, there's a good reason to use the names "Czechia" and "Türkiye": Turkey men's national basketball team ↗ says "recognized as Türkiye by FIBA", and Czech Republic men's national basketball team ↗ says "recognised by FIBA as Czechia". This doesn't mean we ''have'' to use these names, but it's not entirely wrong.<br/>
<s>But I guess you should post your comment on the talk page of the page where you found your example. Maybe you can convince the editors there that other names should be used.</s> — Chrisahn (talk) 14:06, 26 November 2025 (UTC)

:I just saw that you posted similar requests here ↗ two months ago and here ↗ two days ago, so I'll strike my suggestion above. :-) — Chrisahn (talk) 14:42, 26 November 2025 (UTC)

::@Chrisahn: By those "official names", I meant the titles of Wikipedia articles: Czech Republic ↗, Turkey ↗, and also dozens of articles about national teams of both countries.

::Thank you, I just read those two articles you suggested above (Name of ...) and I have to say that this is a really strange situation. Or rather, two completely different strange situations. So I would like to comment on both issues separately:
::# '''Czechia:''' I fully support this name. What I plan to do now is go to the Template:Country data Czech Republic ↗ and propose adding a "name alias" parameter for each sport there: {{nowrap|{{para|name alias-basketball|Czechia}}}}, {{nowrap|{{para|name alias-football|Czechia}}}}, etc. I don't want to change the article titles yet; that means, for example, this code {{nowrap|<code><nowiki>{{bk|CZE}}</nowiki></code>}} would produce {{nowrap|{{bk|CZE|name=Czechia}}}} which would link to the Czech Republic men's national basketball team ↗ article.
::# '''Türkiye:''' A terrible word. No idea how to write "ü" without using Ctrl C / Ctrl V. If I find the {{para|name|Türkiye}} parameter in articles, I will remove it.
::So thank you, Chrisahn, for reading this far. If you want, write something. In fact, I don't expect this initiative of mine to lead to anything, but you never know...<br>Maiō T. (talk) 17:57, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
:::Thanks for your response, but... to put it bluntly: It doesn't matter whether you support a name or find it terrible. That's not how Wikipedia works. You shouldn't start removing "Türkiye" wherever you find it, other editors may find such behavior disruptive. But starting a discussion about such changes is fine. The changes you propose for Template:Country data Czech Republic look useful to me. — Chrisahn (talk) 18:39, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
::::By the way: I don't know how to type "Maiō" without Ctrl C / Ctrl V either, so maybe you should reconsider your stance regarding "Türkiye"... :-) — Chrisahn (talk) 18:41, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
