Your account has been granted the "{{mono|templateeditor}}" user permission, allowing you to edit templates ↗ and modules ↗ that have been protected with template protection ↗. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist ↗, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices ↗. Before you use this user right, please read '''Wikipedia:Template editor ↗''' and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing ↗ and the criteria for revocation ↗.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and editnotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, '''after''' those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus ↗ among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests ↗ on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password ↗.

Wikipedia Library

Hi there. I just want to thank you for bringing up Wikipedia Library during the GAN review of Photograph of Prince Andrew, Virginia Giuffre and Ghislaine Maxwell. I always find it annoying if certain sources are paywalled, and I wish I had researched this library thing earlier. It's immensely helpful, so again thank you! AdaCiccone (talk) 04:37, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

:@AdaCiccone no worries.
:I'm not sure how much of a play around you've had with it. The mainpage for it is at https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/. That URL (https://wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/login?auth=production&url=) is for pasting in front of other URLs when you already know that something is avialable through the library.
:If you're ever looking for stuff that is from newspapers which is behind a paywall, ProQuest is often a good place to start (https://wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/login?auth=production&url=https://www.proquest.com/ip). Also if you're looking for historical news reporting, you can apply for access to newspapers.com through the library (though there's a wait to get access to that though as Wikimedia has limited licenses). If you ever need something from newspapers.com looking up (you can generally tell from the reference parameters/URL), feel free to email me as I have one of the Wikimedia licenses (I use it a lot for verification in my work on did you know). TarnishedPathtalk 05:10, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
::Noted, thanks. But can the URL you gave me be used that way (inserting the URL after the =) continuously? Will I hit a limit or something? Or is searching via the Search bar at the top the preferred way? AdaCiccone (talk) 12:47, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
:::No limit, as long as the source is one that is standardly available through the Wikipedia Library. It won't work with newspapers.com. You need to have a user license for that. Notably, Wikipedia Library doesn't give access to everything through ProQuest. They must have limited access. TarnishedPathtalk 13:20, 5 June 2026 (UTC)

A Crime in Holland

Hello

Thanks for sorting that out or me. I am not very good at redirects and got myself in a complete bind. If you have time could you look at another issue for me? There is an article called Night at the Crossroads ↗ which is a 1932 film based on the Simenon novel Night at the Crossroads (novel) ↗. What I want to do is move the former to Night at the Crossroads (film) and create a disambiguation page called Night at the Crossroads which lists both of them. I don't think there is any way of determining which is the "primary" use of the term (although I suspect it should be the novel on which the film is based). I don't think these moves will be controversial because they are both fairly low traffic articles and it makes sense to disambiguate them by titles clearly showing which is the novel and which the film. Is there a tool I can use to make this sort of things easier? Thanks Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 22:46, 10 July 2026 (UTC)

:@Aemilius Adolphin, are there any other wiki articles with "Night at the Crossroads" as part of their name? TarnishedPathtalk 22:49, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::Not that I am aware of. There might be redirects though. I put a hatnote on Night at the Crossroads (the one about the 1932 film). The trouble is when you do a search for "Night at the Crossroads" in the wikipedia search box only the film comes up. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 22:54, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:::@Aemilius Adolphin, see these pageview stats for both pages ↗. The novel gets almost no views. One could make the argument that is because people are landing at the film when they meant to go to novel. However this navigation analysis ↗ indicates that almost no one is navigating from the film to the novel. I think hatnotes are the best navigation device to use in this circumstance. The only think I'd change is also adding a hatnote to the top of the article about the novel. In general, I try and avoid creating dab pages when there are only two Wikipedia articles and one appears to be primary. See WP:ONEOTHER ↗. TarnishedPathtalk 23:15, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
::::I only just renamed the page Night at the Crossroads (novel) so there won't be any history for it. It was previously called "Maigret at the Crossroads" which was getting about 350 views a month. The Talk page explains why I made the change. But for the moment, I will add a hatnote to the article about the novel. Thanks for looking into this for me. Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 23:43, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::In that case, I'd happily move Night at the Crossroads ↗ to Night at the Crossroads (film) ↗. However, I'm not convinced of the need for a dab page. I'd suggest that Night at the Crossroads ↗ becomes a redirect. Thoughts?
:::::Ps, I'm about to take the children out to a play centre, so if I did anything it would be in a few hours.
:::::Pps, given Night at the Crossroads (film) ↗ doesn't exist at present, you don't really need someone with page mover rights (me) to do this. You'd be able to all this by yourself if you wanted. TarnishedPathtalk 00:11, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
::::::That sounds fine to me. No need for a dab page. So we would have two articles: Night at the Crossroads (film) and Night at the Crossroads (novel). I assume you are proposing that the redirect Night at the Crossroads redirects to the film? Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 00:28, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
:::::::@Aemilius Adolphin correct. TarnishedPath<sup>talk</sup> 01:02, 11 July 2026 (UTC)
