:It's up to you, I am working on the Mizoram Wikiproject, but I am the only one as well. If you feel its right I have no issue with it. I can't work on all of the articles needing cleanup because some topics are not familiar or easily researchable. I'm only waiting for census results to update articles. :I appreciate the recognition of my efforts. I want to expand Mizo wikipedia and bring forth the history of the Mizo people into the limelight and easily accessible. A lot of books on Mizo culture and knowlegde are difficult to obtain and not sourced enough on wikipedia as well. I'm glad to see your efforts paying off as well! I appreciate your contributions. In due time, I hope to research Mizo history academically to propose a better history of Mizo origins and migrations but for now lay the foundations in easily accessed mediums like Wikipedia. Copying appendix documents from a book source

Mmis325, a few days ago, you asked at the Wikipedia:Teahouse about copying Appendix documents from a book source on Mizoram, into a Wikipedia article (the discussion can be viewed here ↗). I wanted to add the following:

The copyright issue had already been pointed out in that discussion, so I won't belabor that; you can investigate that separately. But there is another important consideration, and the key point is this part of your question:

Let's assume for the moment that the documents are not under copyright and therefore you are free to copy them. If that is the case, the question remains: *should* you copy them to a Wikipedia article? I believe the answer is definitely "NO" (except for brief passages inline, or in explanatory notes ↗) for several reasons.

One reason is that Wikipedia is the wrong venue for this: the Wikimedia sister project ↗ Wikisource ↗ exists solely to be a respository for original documents like the letters in the appendix, and is the perfect place for them (if allowed under copyright). As far as why not to add them to the Wikipedia article, the main reason is probably What Wikipedia is Not ↗. In particular, please see WP:NOTINDISCRIMINATE ↗, and WP:NOTREPOSITORY ↗ which says that Wikipedia is not to be used for:
: "{{xt|'''Public domain ↗ or other source material''' such as entire books or source code, original historical documents, letters, laws, proclamations, and other source material that are useful only when presented with their original, unmodified wording.}}"

It goes on to stress that "{{xt|Complete copies of primary sources may go into Wikisource ↗, but not on Wikipedia.}}" So, once you have solved the copyright issue, you are then welcome to copy the letters to Wikisource ↗, and then refer to them in the Wikipedia article using normal, interwiki links ↗. :I understand your point of view, but as an encyclopaedia ideally all contributions should have a source that is in a definite format. If you made your own blog/paper of proverbs that can actually count as a source. But Wikipedia doesn't allow original research. Even if you did write a journal/blog on proverbs in Mizo you wouldn't be allowed to use your own materials out of bias issue. This is why we have to have citations. I hope you don't mind for that fact. Even if a proverb is common knowledge, a translation sometimes might need to be sourced.

Lusei Article

Hi Mmis325,

I was wondering why is there no separate Lusei article? I heard that it was merged as the term Mizo is synonymous with Lusei. But the word Mizo is used to say all the different tribes(Lusei, Paihte, Pawih, Mara, etc.) whereas Lusei is just a tribe. Do you have any idea?

:It's a semantic problem I'm pretty sure. Not all groups accept the term Mizo, that's why the Hmar people's convention, and the Zomi term exist. Mizo as a vernacular was a political naming decision from the Mizo Union party. The main population of Mizo is the Lusei tribe. The issue I think is that there are little to no sources on Lusei being seen as "distinct" from the terms Lushai or Mizo. According to Wikipedia Lusei pages are now redirects to Mizo people because the Lusei tribe form the base of the Mizo term. All Lusei people are Mizo but not all Mizo are Lusei. Unless there is a reason to classify them distinctly there isn't a reason to have a seperate page. For example the page Mizo Chieftainship ↗ only talks about Lusei chiefs not Hmar or Poi or Mara. The name is Mizo but it's practically about the Lusei tribe only. I think you can make a distinction of the term on pages or you can make a page with proper sources on its distinction. That's my opinion of it. No academic uses the term Lusei anymore in all my research they use Lushai or Mizo and treat the other tribes distinctly. What's your opinion of the matter? The ancestors, however, did not like to be called either of these, and termed themselves as Mizo. This word is used to cover all Zo hnahthlak. :::According to B. Lalthangliana, the term Mizo is a new term. When chief Lallula ↗ founded Zopui, the reputation of Zopui led to the coining of the term Mizo so people could claim their ties to Lallula. Since Lallula spread his influence across Mizoram and established the Lusei and Sailo rule this spread the term further. It wasn't to differentiate them from the Chin as they already considered themselves Lusei at the time. The term Mizo became more popular with the earliest official use in Mizo Chanchin by Rev Liangkhaia. Originally to the British all the Zo Hnahthlak was just Kuki. Then the term Lushai-Kuki emerged around the time Lalsuthlaha ↗ interacted with the British. Afterwards when the British interacted with the chiefs such as Sukpilal ↗ or the Lister Expedition ↗ they were described as Lushai. Right now the political terminology of Mizo is used to encompass all the Zo hnahthlak as a new political term. The term Mizo does cover all the tribes but the biggest tribe in the term is the Lusei tribe. The Lusei tribe I believe historically covers and encompasses the Mizo identity since Zopui. For this reason they are interchangeable and the same. Articles like Mizo Chieftainship ↗ and Mizo Animism ↗ are interchangeable with Lusei and primarily focus only on the Lusei tribe. I think the only source which discusses Lusei is Shakespeare's Lushei Kuki clans. However all of these languages, traditions and customs are now just considered Mizo. What do you think of this? ::::I apologize for the late response. This is my opinion: When the British first met us, they knew us by the name 'Kuki' as that is what the Benglis told them. On the other side, the Burmans told them that the Mizos were 'Chin'. The ancestors of the present day Mizos didn't like those. So they called themselves Mizo. Since then, all the tribes are collected under the word 'Mizo'. All the Zo hnahthlak: from Tripura, Assam and Manipur to Myanmar and Bangladesh and Mizoram are referred by the word 'Mizo' like I said before. Nowadays, people think that the word Mizo refers to only the Lusei tribe. This is because the Lusei tribe are the biggest and most of the Mizo language comprise of the Duhlian Ṭawng. However, this is wrong. All the tribes and Zo hnahthkak are Mizo. The tribes can be Lusei, Paite, Hmar, Pawih, Mara, etc.. The issue is that the Lusei tribe is superceded by the Sailo clan. All non-Sailo clans in the Lusei tribe have been largely ignored from history even most Mizo scholars. My personal opinion is that while Mizo as a political term encompasses all Zo people, the current term Zo people does that from an anthropological view. Mizo in vernacular applies to the Indian population of the Zo so far. Just my opinion. However I think a page on the Lusei would need notability on the subject. Just Wanted To Say Thank You.

Browsing through Wikipedia has been my pastime and leisure since I first had fettered access to the internet. I would spend hours reading about everything each day about everything. The lack of reliable Mizo pages had always saddened me and though I gave my feeble attempts to improve it, I gave up pretty quickly.

It was to my very great surprise to see that, in just a few months, so many great articles had sprung up. Thank you for making the knowledge of our past that much more accessible.

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion

Hi there! I check pages listed in :Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting ↗ to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you [//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=1329206812&diff=prev reverted] my fix to :Ba (state) ↗.

If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code> and one or more <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code> referring to it. Someone then removed the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code> but left the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code>, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <code><nowiki><ref name="foo"/></nowiki></code> with a copy of the <code><nowiki><ref name="foo">...</ref></nowiki></code>; I ''did not'' re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the ''remaining'' instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove '''all''' instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.

If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Was not sure if something like this already exists, but I wanted to reach out to see if there is any interest in starting a Meta-Wiki presence in the Mizo language. Given the growing number of contributors and readers from Mizoram and the broader Mizo-speaking community, creating a dedicated space on Meta in Mizo could help improve accessibility, coordination, and participation in Wikimedia discussions and initiatives. It could also serve as a hub for documenting community activities, sharing resources, and supporting new editors who may be more comfortable engaging in Mizo. So wanted to ask if you might be interested in collaborating on this?

:I'm supportive of this in order to encourage Mizo people to read and write their history jn their preferred language. I'm not a Mizo speaker but I am learning and thus my research is jn English in order to increase accessibility of Mizo history to non-Mizo individuals and attract potential researchers.
