The user who accepted this article from my draft is currently blocked. So, I cannot ask this question of them.and you were the next user (adding some categories). I have noticed that this article never comes up in a Google search, thougn its WikiCommons illustration does, and it appears in Revolry (which just requotes the Wikipedia article text). I cannot see any reason why it never comes up in a search. Do you have any thoughts on what might be happening? Thanks in anticipation.

Hello,
Google Code-In ↗, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page ↗ and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Hi Grahamec; I just stumbled upon the article Solothurn–Moutier railway ↗ translated by you in 2018, thanks for that! I live at that line, made some edits to the German article and also took the photos. When I saw on your user page that you're from Australia, I remembered that I talked to a railway enthusiast from Australia at Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm, but I didn't remember his name. That couldn't have been you by any chance? If it was you, then you might remember that we also talked about steamboats (although we in Switzerland call them "ships") on Swiss lakes. I wrote some German articles about Lake Lucerne's historic steamers, namely ''Uri ↗, Unterwalden ↗, Schiller ↗, Gallia ↗'', and ''Stadt Luzern ↗'', and the Australian railfan who might have been you seemed to show some interest in translating these into English... ;-) Gestumblindi (talk) 23:21, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
:Thanks. No, I have never been to a Wikimania meeting.--Grahame (talk) 02:11, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
::Thanks, so it must have been someone else... still, I find it quite fascinating that a railfan from the other side of the world has translated that article about my local railway line :-) Gestumblindi (talk) 22:09, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
:::I use Google translate and then fix the translation so that it makes more sense. It is a way of learning a smattering of German. I like visiting Switzerland, Germany and Italy, where I work on translation on rail-related articles. I have travelled on some of the lines, but not the Solothurn–Moutier railway, although I have been down parallel roads.--Grahame (talk) 03:01, 12 May 2020 (UTC)
::::It is quite a nice line. Nothing spectacular, but on clear days, there can be a fine view of the Alps, first on the left side between Langendorf and Lommiswil, then after the big Lommiswil curve on the right side. Near Crémines, shortly before arriving in Moutier, the view of the Jurassic landscape is also beautiful. And of course, there is the aerial lift from Oberdorf station to the Weissenstein, which is now a bland gondola lift instead of the original chairlift, which I think is a pity, as the chairlift was the last of its type (Von Roll VR 101) in Switzerland, and there were considerable attempts to save it. You might find :de:Sesselbahn Oberdorf–Weissenstein ↗ interesting. Gestumblindi (talk) 21:30, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the route to Lianyungang–Zhenjiang high-speed railway ↗, I've been meaning to learn how to do that myself! Hi,
I saw your reversion of my recent edit to this page. I'm cleaning up CS1 errors, and the semicolon in the non-breaking space code (nbsp;) in editor parameters of two citations causes the page to appear on the list at Category:CS1 maint: multiple names: editors list. I understand why you reverted my edit, to keep the e and V from breaking up at the end of a line. I looked for Hofer Eisenbahnfreunde e. V. on the internet, and frequently found it with "e.V." no space after the period following the e. I don't understand German punctuation rules, but the lack of a space after a period is definitely a Germanism in this situation. Is it OK to re-edit the page that way ("e.V."), or can you suggest another way so that it doesn't generate a CS1 error?

:My main objection was that you can't have a rule that bans "& nbsp;" and similar. These are not banned in Wikipedia and if an alert system is picking them up as a fault it needs to be rewritten. Will you please stop putting :Category:Living people ↗ onto band articles. Per that category, "This category is for articles structured as biographical entries for living individuals." Band articles are not "biographical entries for living individuals". First, thank you so much for reviewing this article.
Now, could I ask you to assist me with a problem that I am not yet confident enough to solve myself?
When I wrote the article, I started with sources that spelt the name as 'McKenzie' but now having published it and reviewed the cited material again, I have come to the conclusion that the descendants use 'Mackenzie', as do many other, but by no means all, sources. I now believe that he signed himself 'Mackenzie' and it is on his memorial inscription that way. Of course, spelling in those times was less stable than it is today, but in the end I had to go with 'Mackenzie',in a recent revision. However, that change leaves the article title inconsistent with the article. I know this can be fixed (redirected) but I have not done that before and I am conscious that I do not want to do any damage. Would you be able to assist me to make 'McKenzie' into 'Mackenzie' in the title. Thanks in anticipation.TrimmerinWiki (talk) 01:01, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

thanks for all your tagging, and diligent oz things - the project would not be as well kept up without your care of the things that need attending to. I was a bit sensitive about the short tagging of death from pneumonia tags - I had it (pneumonia) diagnosed last year - but seem to be still here, so assume I am still alive. Also, I have noticed from my edits from ten years ago and more - the lack of the biog tag on cats that are to do with people. Maybe I am as strange as I feel at times. Hi Grahamec,
I have noted that you deleted the hatnote from this article, and I understand your reason and happily agree. The only thing I ask is that the hatnote on 'Elouera Beach' is retained. There is a redirect page, just called 'Elouera', which redirects to the beach article. So, somebody looking for just 'Elourera' can be redirected to the beach article, hence the need to retain the hatnote pointing to the 'other Elouera'. Obviously, Line 1 and Line S1 of Hefei Metro are different lines. (You can read the articles of the two lines in Chinese wikipedia. ) Your weird and possibly Spam edit on Hefei West railway station ↗ is reverted by me. Please don't do these spam edits in future.27.124.38.198 ↗ (talk) 14:59, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

::He's been edit warring across multiple IP addresses on the article for Tianjin–Weifang high-speed railway. Is your template Template:Tianjin–Weifang high-speed railway RDT ↗ accurate and are his edits on the template page accurate? It feels like he's trying to claim ownership. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 16:21, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
:::The map and the Tianjin–Weifang–Yantai high-speed railway ↗ articles are translations from the Chinese Wikpidia, which has articles for the Tianjin–Weifang–Yantai HSR, the Weifang–Laixi high-speed railway ↗ and the Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway ↗ (250 km/h), which has a branch to Yantai. OpenStreet Map does now show a separate HSR under construction between Weifang and Laixi but the Chinese Wikipedia does not have a map it yet. I don't see any point in designing a map for the extension in advance of Chinese Wikipedia. Perhaps the IP might put together such a map.Grahame (talk) 01:16, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
::::So, does it mean it should be displayed regardless of what this IP says? If the map is halfway finished then it still shows accurate information. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 03:14, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
:::::Yes, I think the map we have is better than no map.Grahame (talk) 03:17, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
::::::Well, there's two against one. I'd recommend you do it. I'm tired of the back and forth. If he reverts just report the IP's that have been removing the map. Considering how he call you out for "spam" shows very little consensus-building on his part, it might be best to probably request page protection. But thanks for your insight. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 03:20, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
:::::::The reference to "spam" seems to relate to a minor edit I made to the Hefei West railway station ↗ article, which was in fact wrong on further investigation. I have reverted his reversion.--Grahame (talk) 03:28, 19 February 2023 (UTC)

Hi there, Hope you are well. I'm reaching out as I understand this user supported creating the Plenty Valley FM wikipedia page. As someone who is closely associated with the organisation I unwittingly found myself in a COI situation as a new user to the platform trying to perform updates. The information in the page is out of date and in some cases contains incorrect information at the current date. Would you be able to assist with edit requests? I'm aware that the layout of the page can also be upgraded in a radiobox page template. Hope to hear from you. Wrightceee1990 (talk) 03:55, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Um . . . cough . . . in this edit ↗ you awarded Jindřich Marco ↗ a C. For Jindřich Marco the photographer, this seems very reasonable. I haven't the slightest objection. But for Jindřich Marco the numismatist, it's ridiculous. As far as the numismatist is concerned, it's a mere stub. (Really. Take a look!) -- Hoary (talk) 09:45, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
:You don't get to assess each aspect of the article separately. The C rating does imply weaknesses in the article including in this case a poor lead, which may include describing him as a numismatist, which is not supported in the body of the argument. Maybe the description as a numismatist, the category and the project tag should be removed.--Grahame (talk) 10:50, 27 January 2025 (UTC)
Yes, odd, isn't it? Certainly as an AfC reviewer one is not asked to provide project-specific ratings. Unless my memory is even feebler than I realize, not long ago editors could and often did give different grades. I wonder how and when that changed. Was JM a numismatist? One really ought to cite the opinions of numismatists on this question, but unfortunately I know as little about numismatics and its exponents as I know about, say, dog-training or fashion. The article does quote a respected ''photographic'' historian as writing that JM "gradually [became] a recognized authority on numismatics and graphic art", but that hardly cuts it. For an informal suggestion of his numismatic significance, look at the list of his publications (including translations into other languages), and, as an example, this ↗. -- Hoary (talk) 12:25, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

On the page List of metro systems ↗ you reverted my edit to add Auckland Metro ↗. You said it was 'not a metro' even though it clearly is an established metro system. Please kindly undo your mistake. 🇳🇿 '''R. F. K. T. N. G.''' talk to me. 00:27, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
:Hello there, I am sorry for arguing with you. You are clearly more experienced than me in editing Wikipedia. But I feel like my contribution has been unfairly removed from List of metro systems ↗ and believe that it should be on the page. If you REALLY believe Auckland Metro is not a metro system, I would be keen to understand why. 🇳🇿 <span style="font-family:'Courier New', monospace;">R. F. K. T. N. G.</span> (talk) 🇳🇿 09:13, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
::What is considered a metro is set out under "Considerations". Some issues are whether the rail services that run through the underground sections are entirely segregated from other forms of traffic (such as long distance traffic and freight trains) on the outer sections, also whether there are level crossings on these outer sections and whether services run frequently on these sections. Many lines have frequent services, such as the Elizabeth line in London, but are not entirely separated from non-metro traffic (west of the airport), so are not considered metros. The Elizabeth line also has infrequent services west of the airport (and arguably west of Paddington).--Grahame (talk) 10:00, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
:::Ok. I would think the best way to describe it would be ‘A hybrid suburban heavy-rail system evolving into a genuine metro system.’ So it wouldn’t belong on the page… yet. Hi, I see you also freuqently edit the German Fernverkehr system. I have a question. What should be the order for the ICE and IC lines because different stations have different formats. Should they be ordered by line number indifferent if they are an ICE or IC line? Or should the ICEs go first and then you list the ICs by line number?
I'm curious what you think. Parwa104 (talk) Parwa104 (talk) 12:35, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
:I have rearranged some of them to put ICE and IC trains together. This seems to be the current German preference. Of course, the lines are steadily being converted to ICE operation. By the way, how to you determine whether infrequent routes like the daily Obersdorf–Dortmund train pair (being converted to ICE in July, despite lack of electrification south of Ulm) is really IC 32 (which has disappeared from the map), IC 62 (which would make more sense) or even the unknown IC 33 (which is indicated on the map between Essen and Duisburg)? Actually on further examination it may be a branch of IC 55, so presumably the 33 symbol might be a typographical error for 55.--Grahame (talk) 13:10, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
::Ah thank you. I use Vagonweb.cz ↗ or fernbahn.de ↗, here you can see for every train series to which line number it belongs.Parwa104 (talk) 20:19, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Hi, just a reminder that edits need to be sourced - not a single edit I’ve seen made recently in the list of ICE lines article has had a reliable source attached. <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 09:50, 7 February 2026 (UTC)
:Strangely there are no reliable secondary sources for rail (air, bus etc) routes and if there were they would soon become out of date. So we are forced to rely on maps and timetables.--Grahame (talk) 07:04, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
::I didn't say anything about secondary sources - primary sources are just fine… but the edits you're making aren't giving any sources at all, primary or secondary. <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 07:13, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
:::All the previous work has been based on maps and timetables. I have used the same map as everybody else and is referenced at the beginning of the article. Basically I have been fixing some minor lines which run a few times a day, some of which hadn't been updated for the abolition of lines (particularly, line 32). It would be easy to add in some references to the departure timetables at end stations, but nobody has done that before and it would soon become excessive.--Grahame (talk) 07:25, 9 February 2026 (UTC)
::::If you're using an existing source that's already in the article, you must update the access date parameter to show that a) it's the source you used, and b) the date when you viewed the source to check the accuracy of the content it's verifying. As of right now, the source I can see at the beginning of the article has a date of December 2025… and given the number of updates made, it was definitely not last accessed in December. <span class="nowrap"><span style="color: RebeccaPurple">Danners430</span> tweaks made ↗</span> 07:30, 9 February 2026 (UTC)

:I must say that I see some point in tagging articles to the project but less for rating the importance of them to sub-projects, even though that importance is almost always "low". I could stop tagging them at all if that was more convenient.--Grahame (talk) 12:35, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
::please dont say that - its very important what you do - the idea of simply adding importance=low if you could would be fantastic - but no big deal, the frustration is well beyond anything personal - the whole system seems disinterested in keeping things going - your work is very important - please dont get me wrong JarrahTree 12:41, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
::: have been thinking about all of this very carefully, ''any'' tag is better than none, its not the follow up tag as much as the first, however done - that is so important. It is hard to explain here, but it makes your hard work even more valuable as it is found. So thank you so much for your consistent and persistent work, there is real value to it, more than followup tags, I will try to articulate the reasoning sometime... Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
Hello,
Google Code-In ↗, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks.
Thank you!

Solothurn–Moutier railway; have we met?

Nuremberg–Cheb railway
Hi,
I saw your reversion of my recent edit to this page.

Some help requested with 'John McKenzie (colonial settler)'

Best wishes, keep up the good work! JarrahTree 05:20, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Just FYI. I have emailed the Qld Place Names folk (with whom I regularly correspond about place name information) to get their views on the conflicting sources for the origin of the name, but they can take a long time to reply (they either reply within a day or it takes months). But the guy who normally replies quickly is on leave at the moment so I am not expecting a quick reply. Kerry (talk) 11:42, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

Invitation to sign up as a AfC reviewer
Hi, I see that you have been manually moving articles from draft space to the main space. Consider applying ↗ to be a AfC reviewer, which will avail you the AFC helper script. The script semi-automates the draft acceptance process. – robertsky (talk) 01:24, 24 February 2022 (UTC)

Possible help for a new Wikipedia editor
Hello! I am currently new to Wikipedia editing, having taken up a university course where we are encouraged to work on a stub article and turn it into a B- or C-class article. I have noticed that you are relatively active on here, and are a member of the Australian history WikiProject ↗. I have chosen Peter Nicol Russell ↗ who was a Scottish/Australian engineer and philanthropist in the 1800's. If you had the chance, would you mind assisting me with providing some advice on the article via its talk page ↗? I'm also looking for someone to review and grade the article per the Australian history WikiProject or the Biography WikiProject ↗ guidelines if you (/you know anyone who) can help Many thanks!! Elouera, Cobar, New South Wales
Consideration to assist in Plenty Valley FM page (WP:TNT)?
Hi there, Hope you are well. I'm reaching out as I understand this user supported creating the Plenty Valley FM wikipedia page. As someone who is closely associated with the organisation I unwittingly found myself in a COI situation as a new user to the platform trying to perform updates. The information in the page is out of date and in some cases contains incorrect information at the current date. Would you be able to assist with edit requests? I'm aware that the layout of the page can also be upgraded in a radiobox page template. Hope to hear from you. Wrightceee1990 (talk) 03:55, 15 August 2024 (UTC)

Not so classy
Um . . . cough . . . in this edit ↗ you awarded Jindřich Marco ↗ a C.

Order of ICE and IC in Adjacent stations and service table on German stations

List of ICE lines
